Today, I want to share with you some more intimate photos of GANNETS at their nests and interacting with each other. I love their faces: pale blue eyes and bills, with delicate black outlines.
- “Life is so good, with blue sky above to fly in and the blue ocean below to fish in. What more could I want?”
- “What a beautiful ball of white fluff my chick is.”
- Preening is essential for seabirds
- It’s good to be shown how to do it …..
- ….. and to have a helping beak.
Gannet are monogamous and may remain together over several seasons, if not for all of their lives. The pairs separate when their chicks leave the nest but they bond again the following year. Should one of the pair die, the other bird will find another mate.
