I have always loved photography, ever since I was helped to make  a simple Brownie Box Camera at the age of nine in 1953. I now use a Panasonic Lumix FZ2000 which is a “bridge” camera with a single fixed lens. I used to take black and white photos until the 1960s when I more often took colour slides for projection. I moved to colour prints in the 1980s and have been taking digital photos since my 60th birthday in 2004. We have scanned a few of our old colour slides and colour prints onto the computer, but the originals have deteriorated a lot over the years.

I particularly enjoy taking photos on my travels and in my small garden, usually focussing on people, landscapes, nature and wildlife.

A PHOTO A DAY HELPS ……

On 8th April 2020, during the Coronvirus crisis and Lockdown, I started posting one or more of my photos each day, hoping it might help lift people’s spirits a bit and give them something to look forward to each day.

At first, I selected the photos at random and usually for no particular reason except that I liked them and hoped that others would also enjoy them. Then, from the fourth week of Lockdown, I decided to choose a theme for each week as follows:

Weeks 1, 2 & 3: 8th – 25th April – Random photos
Week 4:    26th April – 2nd May – Birds of the world
Week 5:    3rd – 9th May – Landscapes (world)
Week 6:    10th – 16th May – Children of the world
Week 7:    17th-23rd May – Butterflies of the UK and Europe
Week 8:    24th – 30th May – Uganda (mixed)
Week 9:    31st May-6th June – Wild flowers of the UK
Week 10: 7th – 13th June – Norway
Week 11: 14th – 20th June – Reflections

If you would like to be alerted every time I post a photo, click on where it says “Follow updates by email” on this page near the top of the column on the right. Enter your email address and then you will get an email alert every time I post something new – usually a photo (or two) but occasionally a written reflection of some sort. You can always unsubscribe if you don’t want to be alerted any more. When you receive an email, click on the link and it will take you to the latest photo.

You can see more of my photos on Flickr, including most of my Uganda wildlife and bird photos.

I have also uploaded a variety of VIDEOS on Vimeo, a few of which are also now on YouTube: LOCKDOWN MOVIES and MADAGASCAR.

Below is a sample of the photos I have posted recently. (If you want to see these photos larger, click on the first one and then scroll through them using the arrow to the right of each photo.) To see them all, go to A PHOTO A DAY HELPS ……
