ALLEGED EVIDENCE OF FRAUDULENT ELECTIONS IN UGANDA ON 15/01/2026

The evidence of apparent election ballot rigging and false announcement of the Presidential Election results needs urgent investigation by the international community with ensuing appropriate action.

The people of Uganda have been denied external support in the run-up to the elections as nations and agencies turned a blind eye to the intimidation of opposition supporters during legitimate, planned campaign rallies.

Is everyone going to continue to let Ugandans down by ignoring the evidence coming out after the elections, evidence which challenges the results Museveni’s military regime is claiming in his attempt to stay in power for a seventh term?

Unlike most other countries in similar situations, the NUP Opposition party is continuing to advocate non-violent resistance as they look for peaceful ways of challenging the results which have been announced and to implement the clear choices of the majority of Ugandans in the face of massive military force mounted against them. (NB: Not only were elections held for President, but also for Members of Parliament and local council leaders such as Mayors and LC5s).

Here is some of the evidence that started to emerge once the internet blackout was lifted.

This photo is taken from a video. To watch the short video from which the photo above is taken, please click on this link. It apparently shows the number and percentage of votes as the counting of votes in the Presidential Election in Uganda was still in the process of being returned to the Electoral Commission. It starts at 10:18:36 am on Saturday 17th January 2026. As the video continues, with a commentator reading out the names and figures, so the time (when it is visible) is seen to change, second by second. It has obviously been filmed live as the results were coming in – it is not a static document. At this point, it apparently shows that Kyagulanyi had received 69.76% of the votes so far counted and returned, while Museveni had 25.95% of the votes for President.

The video above also includes, briefly, this bar chart which is apparently showing the ratio, by party, of MPs elected to Parliament.  It shows that in all but the Western Region, NUP (red) had apparently won the majority of seats.

This photo is taken from a second video just over 3 hours later.

Click on this link to see the second video. It apparently shows the results towards the end of the counting and return of votes in the Presidential Election. At the start of the video, the time appears to be 01:27:12 pm on Saturday 17th January. It is therefore a little over 3 hours later than the previous video. As in the first video, this video shows the time changing (when it is visible) second by second. Again, it appears to have been filmed live and is not a static document. It continues to indicate a large majority win for Robert Kyagulanyi with 71.88% of the votes compared with 24.46% for Museveni. The whole video is purportedly an official from the Electoral Commission declaring the total number of votes each candidate received as they are coming in – but note, he switches the names, stating that it was Yoweri Museveni who won 71.88% while Kyagulanyi is said to have won 24.46% despite the “live” screen showing the opposite!

FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT of Presidential Election Results

This was given at 4.00pm on 17th January 2026, about two and a half hours after the results shown in the previous video.

Note the sudden switch in the allocation of the majority number of votes between 1.27pm and 4.00pm as follows:

Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine): 7,643, 778 at 1.27pm becomes 2,741,238 at 4.00pm.

Yoweri Museveni: 2,601,150 at 1.27pm becomes 7,946,772 at 4.00pm.

Fraudulent ticking of ballot papers in favour of Museveni

In the image of a sample ballot paper (below) for the Presidential Election, note that Museveni is the 8th (last) candidate named on the list, at the bottom (with a yellow bus, the symbol for the NRM).

Here are two videos (first and second), which seem to have been taken clandestinely and in two different locations. They both appear to show pads of unused Ballot Papers being ticked, one page after another, by the polling officers. In every case, they are seen to tick the last candidate on the paper – which is Museveni! This would appear to be clear evidence of ballot rigging which needs investigating.

This photo shows further evidence of fraud at Museveni’s own polling station where the total number of votes apparently cast for Museveni (M7) exceeds the number on the Voters’ Register!

Other incidents: These two videos have appeared on X, with the following comments: “The videos may not be clear and show only a vehicle, but the presence of armed security at polling sites alongside ballot pre-ticking and stuffing raises grave concerns. These allegations demand an independent investigation. Instead, innocent opposition supporters are behind bars.”  “Thugs Just came in, terrorised the Voting team and ticked all the ballots in favor of the NRM Parliamentary Candidate. They were protected by Military and Police.” You can clearly see people ticking the penultimate (yellow bus symbol) candidate on every ballot paper and others posting handfuls of papers into the box. There is little, if any, sign of ordinary voters around.

Another filmed example of vote rigging, this time for the LC5 Chairman, occurred in Kamwenge District. You can see a pad of unused ballot papers being ticked in favour of Joseph Karungi, the NRM candidate (yellow bus symbol), who was later announced as the winner.

U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Cory Booker (D-NJ), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy, released this statement on 23/01/2026 demanding accountability after the elections held in Uganda on January 15, 2026. I have seen nothing similar from the UK Government.
